I am very disappointed in the front page story of “Man goes on trial for rape of a child,” and the disgusting lurid details used by your reporter. The vivid details of what happened was not necessary for all of us to read in your family paper.

Are we lowering our standards to match what we have to watch on television these days that passes as entertainment?

Freedom of the press is such an important part of our democracy and the responsibility of editors and reporters is second to none in protecting it. Keep your standards high, and certainly report the news without such sexual specifics.

My students were always encouraged to keep up on current events as it is our responsibility as good citizens to be informed. Your paper has always been top rate and let’s keep it that way.
