Guiding spirit

Editor:

“If we ever forget we are one nation under God then we will be a nation gone under.” – Ronald Reagan.

I wonder what the great communicator is thinking these days when he looks down and sees what is happening to the country he so dearly loved. Could he possibly comprehend the dramatic change that has taken place in our society since the days he was with us? He must be saddened to see that some are doing everything in their power to remove all traces of God from our schools and any public gatherings.

To them who would impose their views contrary to those who created this and the Bill of Rights, I should remind you the framers who created the near flawless government we have enjoyed for the past two centuries were men who believed in God. They knew in order to bring forth a government that guaranteed individual freedom and the dignity of its people they would need spiritual guidance. Their spiritual guidance became the foundation of the greatest government on the planet.

It is sad indeed that there are those who are not satisfied with a government that has served the people so well and are under the illusion that our system is flawed. They’re complaining we should do more to share the wealth. A healthy capitalistic system with competent leadership is the only formula that will give the country the chance to restore a healthy economy and regain our self respect from the rest of the world.

To those who would abandon capitalism for a socialistic type of government I ask: Where have you been these last years?

Haven’t we seen the result of a bloated government? A so-called government that has done nothing but sit on their butts and spend billions of dollars we do not have. They apparently have totally discarded the danger of the $17 trillion deficit hovering over our heads. This administration just continues to borrow and print money with little or no regard of the consequences.

As to our current leader. “A prince whose character is just marked by every act that may define a tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.” – The Declaration of Independence.
