Ducking responsibility

Editor:

As a very young child, my fondest wish was to have all animals trust me enough to let me pet them and talk to them. As a new driver, my dad’s first admonishment was not to swerve to avoid hitting an animal, at the possible expense of human suffering.

For this county to allow two days of front page articles regarding the unfortunate death of two ducks hit by a motorist is a travesty. A hand motion to a driver is sometimes hard to interpret even when given by an official.

No, the owner is responsible for the well-being of beloved pets that are in their care. To place the blame elsewhere is shameful.
