LOOSE ENDS: A good alibi

  • Among the suspect vehicles stopped after a recent bank robbery in Glenmoor was one I know well: The white truck driven by my daughter-in-law, Patty, who was en route to work in Lisbon when sheriff’s Deputy Allan Young pulled her over. Luckily, Patty was able to call someone who could give her a good reference: Her brother, sheriff’s Deputy Jasper Cannon. We all got a good laugh out of my mild-mannered daughter-in-law being mistaken for a bank robber.
  • Having been under the weather for a while, I’m a little late in writing this, but wanted to say that the Memorial Day observance in Winona was one of the best I’ve covered in my years of reporting. Not only were the words of U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ron S. Gesaman touching, but for a small crossroads community, the turnout was amazing. When Gesaman said, “This is where my character was shaped,” I could very easily see how that could be true. Very nicely done, Winona.
