James ‘Jim’ Cantwell

EAST LIVERPOOL — James A. “Jim” Cantwell, 90, of East Liverpool, died Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Salem on Nov. 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Ralph A. “Shorty” and June Wiley Cantwell.

He worked as a security guard at Mountaineer Casino and Racetrack, starting in 1960 when it was known as Waterford Park. J

He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice E. (Wooden) Cantwell, and two brothers Marion and Robert “Bob” Cantwell.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela R. Cottrell and her husband Rocky of Weirton, W.Va., and Michelle Lynn Rodriguez and her husband Rene of Kansas City, Mo.; three sons. Harold M. Cantwell of East Liverpool, Robert J. Cantwell of East Liverpool and James R. Cantwell of Florida; two sisters, Freda Cantwell of Parkersburg and Dolores Hagerman of Washington; brother, Dale Cantwell of Parkersburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Dawson Funeral Home, where Pastor Tom Adkins will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
