SALEM — Charles E. Slavens, 95, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Salem North Healthcare Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1923 in Struthers, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen (Condrick) Slavkosky.
He had been a supervisor with Conrail Corporation, retiring in 1988 with 46 years of service, and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, receiving the EAME Theater Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon.
Survivors include a son, Robert M. (Michelle) Slavens of Westerville; two daughters, Cynthia L. Slavens of Salem and Theresa A. (Nicholas) Cool of Salem; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, E. June (Wardeska) Slavens; a sister, Helen Olenik; and two brothers, Joseph and Michael Slavens.
Services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Fr. Robert Edwards officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
