Cheryl Manley

COLUMBIANA — Cheryl L. Manley, of Columbiana, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 from an aggressive form of cancer.

Born August 27, 1958 to the late Marion and Donna Manley, Cheryl L. Manley graduated from Columbiana High School in 1976.

Known for her fierce loyalty to her family, and for being an incredible mother, loving grandmother and lifelong friend to her brothers and sisters, she encouraged and inspired those closest to her to live their best life, fight hard, and love harder. She will be best remembered for her incredible resilience in facing the deepest parts of life’s struggles. Cheryl departed this world the way she lived, full of fight and defiance, and as was her character, fought with all her strength to the very end. She never wanted pity and in many instances met friends and family with resistance while universally “flipping the bird,” to hard aches, cancer, and even Death Herself, never wanting to appear weak or feeble to anyone.

Those who didn’t know her might be tempted to label her abrasive, but we understood her no-nonsense approach was for the benefit of those around her. She never let anyone get away with lies, called people out on their drama, and demanded everyone to be better.

She is survived by her three children, Jeremy (Erin) Manke, Port Huene, Calif.; Jennifer Manke, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Leanna Rose, Hampton,Va.; seven siblings, Claudia (Walt) Simpson, Hartsell, Ala.; Connie (John) Benitou, Walnut Creek, Calif.; Cathy (George) Nyktas, of Leetonia; Chris Rouse, of Columbiana; Craig Manley, San Giovanni Di Polcenigo, Italy; Curt (Wendy) Manley, Geneva, N.Y.; and Candie (Greg) Dickinson, New Waterford; and two grandchildren, Jacob Manke and Annaleigh Rose.

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to one of the best individuals we were blessed to have in our lives.

Private services were held with the family.
