CHESTER, W.Va. –Robert L. Gessford, 83, of Chester, W.Va., died Wednesday at his home.
He was born April 28, 1935 in Bridgewater, Pa., the son of the late LeRoy and Florence Rhodes Gessford.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the Berlin crisis.
He attended the Christian Assembly Church in Industry, Pa.
He began his career in banking with the former First National Bank in East Liverpool and later started the First National Bank of Chester, where he served until retirement.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Ruehl Gessford; three daughters, Robin Morelli of Wheeling, W.Va.; Lee Ann Wittich of Cincinnati and Tracy Monaco of Chester, W.Va.; one sister, Nancy Winters of East Liverpool; two brothers, James Gessford of Florida and Kenneth Gessford of Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services with military honors will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Anzevino officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.
