Karen Lamoncha

COLUMBIANA — Private services were held for Karen Lamoncha, 64, passed away Thursday August 9, 2018 at her home in Columbiana.

Karen was born on August 25, 1953 in Salem, OH, a daughter of Russell and Margaret Lamoncha. She went to grade school in Columbiana, and graduated from Youngstown State University. Karen received her Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia, and began her Doctorate at the University of Vermont. Karen was “Buggy;” Entomology was her education specialty. She was a teacher at the Hershey School in Hershey, PA and mentored at Crestview Elementary School. Karen worked with the U.S. Forest Service in Georgia and California. She also taught labs at the University of Georgia and Humboldt University.

Karen had many loves in her life. Her family, friends, cats, cooking, gardening, traveling and life. She was a caregiver for her mother.

Karen leaves behind a mother, Margaret Lamoncha, two brothers Criss Lamoncha and Mark (Sheri) Lamoncha, one sister Mary Ann (Lamin) Daffeh, six nieces and nephews and four great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father Russell.
