Howard Rose

CLINTON, Okla. — Howard Hamilton Rose, 83, formerly of Irondale, died July 16 here.

Born March 16, 1935 in Irondale, he was the son of James and Lena (Householder) Rose in Irondale.

He worked as a police officer and later was mayor of Amsterdam, Ohio. He owned and operated H and H Rose Lumber Company in Lisbon. He also worked for Berky/Modco in Hinton, Okla., the Texian Inn, the Marriott and was self-employed as a welder. Howard also owned a real estate appraisal service until his retirement in 2008.

He was a member of Sickles Community Church, Lookeba, Okla.

Survivors Include, wife, Wilda Rose,; children, Julie Rose Armour and Brent Peck, both of Hinton, Okla., Kent Peck of Purcell, Okla., and Ronda Green of Weatherford, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean McFerren, Edna McConnell, Becky Thomas, Marge Ferguson, Jim Rose, Harold Rose and Lewis Rose.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Sickles Community Church with the Rev. Tom Clifton and Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Interment will be done at Sickles Cemetery in Sickles.

Arrangements were handled by Tuner Funeral Home in Hinton.
