Werner ‘Mike’ Staaf III
EAST PALESTINE — Werner Isadore Staaf III, known to his friends as “Mike” passed away on June 9, 2018 at the age of 82 years.
Mike will be lovingly and forever remembered by his wife, Grace Kalervo; his children, Michael Staaf, Joni Staaf Sturgill, David Kalervo and Kathy DeLuca; his grandchildren, Joey, Michael, Mason and Melissa; and his sister, Marge. Mike will also be forever loved and remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A native of Pittsburgh, he was born and grew up in Rennerdale, PA. He graduated the University of Pittsburgh as a Mechanical Engineer in 1957. After taking over his father’s business in 1958, he went on to own and operate numerous businesses, ranging from sign companies, letter manufacturing, x-ray equipment installation, and manufacture of electrical control units, and employed hundreds of people over his lifetime.
He was also a family man who loved his family above all and was a devoted father to his son and daughter always putting his family’s needs above his own. His favorite times were having evening meals with his family and loved ones.
His family paid this tribute to him, “Mike was known to everyone as the guy that everyone loved who opened his heart to everyone he met, the guy that you could go to for anything, the guy who could fix anything, and when asked how he was doing he would simply say that he is “Peachy.” The world lost a great man on this day and he will be sorely missed.
Please honor and celebrate his life on Thursday from 1pm-3pm and 5pm until the time of services at 7pm in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 117 Blackhawk Rd. Chippewa PA 15010 www.gabauerfamilyfuneralhomes.com
