Rosalia Schlueter

Salem — Rosalia Lisi Schlueter, 80, died Friday evening, June 15, 2018, surrounded by her family at home in Salem. She was born to Domenic and Jennie DeCrow Lisi on January 29, 1938, in Salem.

A 1956 graduate of Salem High School, Ro continued her education at Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland. She worked as a registered nurse at Salem Community Hospital for 41 years before her retirement in 2000.

Rosalie is survived by her husband, Francis J. Schlueter, a 1953 graduate of East Palestine High School, whom she married on April 4, 1964, at Saint Paul Catholic Church. She is also survived by their four children; Frederick “Fritz” Schlueter (Lori) of Salem; Paul Schlueter (Christine) of South Elgin, IL; Jennifer Schlueter Carrier (Paul) of South Bend, IN; and Gretchen Schlueter Martino of King of Prussia, PA. In addition, she has 11 surviving grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Rosalie is also survived by her siblings, Virginia Lisi Toot (Edward) and Theodore Lisi (Cheri).

Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Lisi Trunick (Ray) of DeRidder, LA.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Rosalie was happiest when she was with her family, as she lovingly cared for them. Rosalie always served others: as Nonni to her family, as an award- winning nurse to the sick and injured, and as a tireless volunteer in the Salem community.An active member of Saint Paul Parish, Rosalie’s commitment to her Catholic faith prompted her to support the Saint Paul community in a variety of ways. She regularly counted the collection money, recently coordinated the funeral buffet committee, was an active member of Legion of Mary, and attended to many other necessary tasks around the parish. Her love of reading led her to assist at Saint Paul School in the library and main office and to volunteer at the Salem Public Library and in the Salem Public Schools. Rosalie provided for the homebound as a Mobile Meals volunteer. A proud Salem Quaker, Rosalie also helped at the Salem Historical Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Saint Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home and also Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 8:00 pm Tuesday.

Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
