Louise Thompson

WELLSVILLE — Louise Thompson, 92, of Boardman, formerly of Wellsville, died Wednesday.

Born May 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Edward and Willie Randall (Smith) of Youngstown, and lived in Wellsville most of her lift.

A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She served 27 years within the Eastern Ohio Baptist District Association as the secretary of the Women’s Department and simultaneously served 26 years as the secretary of the Ohio Valley Missionary Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Casey Thompson; five sisters, Emma Bogan, Norma Shields, Yvonne Huff, Barbara Ann Shaw and Karen Lottier; and two brothers, Nathaniel Shaw and John Shaw Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Benita Jo Thompson of Boardman; a son, Benjamin Edward “Corky” Thompson of Colerain Township; a sister, Beverly Coleman of Wellsville; a brother, Donald Shaw of Youngstown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Wellsville. The Rev. Dr. Walter J. Arrington will deliver the eulogy at noon Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
