CLERMONT, Fla. — James O. Cross, 86, of Clermont, formerly of East Liverpool, died Saturday at his home.
Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Aug. 31, 1931, he was the son of the late James Earl and Nellie Irene Barnett Cross.
He worked at the former Crucible Steel Co., retiring in 1982, and later worked for the Cross Construction Co. in Naples, Fla. He had been a member of the Calcutta United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peg” McCoy Cross; two sons, Terry R. Cross of Clermont and Kenneth W. Cross of Groveland, Fla.; a sister Betty Deem of Portsmouth, Ohio; two brothers Oliver “Bud” Cross of Georgia and William Cross of Florida; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, James “Jimmy” Cross, Steve Cross and Randall Lee Cross; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Cross; three brothers, Robin, Cecil and Gilbert Cross; and six sisters, Ethel McNemar, Marguerite Jackson, Eve Beckwith, Neljean Hardesty, Louise Crouser and Violet Graham.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer will conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
