Velma Plate

EAST LIVERPOOL — Velma A. Plate, 102, formerly of state Route 45, Wellsville, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday at The Orchards of East Liverpool.

Born near Ohioville, Pa., on Feb. 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Lois Dailey Garvin.

A lifetime area resident, she worked in the cafeteria of the West Point School at one time and was a member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Wellsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Plate; a daughter, Lois Betteridge; a son, Charles E. Plate; a grandson; a great-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Harry and John Weir.

Survivors include two daughters, Arleen Clark Wise of Wellsville and Patricia Carlson Koehler of Pittsburgh, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home with chaplain Lisa Elliott officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
