EAST LIVERPOOL — Thomas A. “Santa” Powell, 78, of East Liverpool died Sunday at East Liverpool City Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1939 in Wellsville, the son of the late Clyde Powell and Helen (Westbrook) Powell Dawson.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He had been employed as a route driver and salesman for Schwebel’s Bakery and also as a salesman and supervisor for Nickles Bakery. He most recently worked as an insurance agent for American General Life Insurance and as an agent and supervisor for Western & Southern Life Insurance.
He was a member of The House of Prayer.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Rhallie Dawson; two sisters, Geraldine Fitch and Patricia Powell; and two half brothers, Richard and Clyde Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Dunn) Headley Powell; two daughters, Cindy Powell Leavitte of Butler, Pa., and Cheryl Bryan of Nichol, Calif.; three sons, Clyde Powell of Temecula, Calif., Christopher Powell of Everett, Wash., and Clayton Powell of North Jackson; two stepsons, Bob Headley of Erie, Pa., and Jim Headley of East Liverpool; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Edenfield of San Antonio, Texas; one stepsister, Vicki Oesch of Salem; one stepbrother, Robert Dawson of East Liverpool; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, Wellsville, with Pastor Kim Gadd officiating. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
