Columbiana — Elmon U. Smith, 91, of Columbiana, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at his home.
Elmon was born November 14, 1926, a son of the late Loy and Minnie Onstott Smith.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Springfield and worked as a salesman with Carney Gas Service at West Point, retiring in 1979. Elmon attended college at Youngstown State University, Bowling Green State University, and Kent State University. He was very proud of the years he spent as a teacher in Leetonia high school and Catholic Central High School in Steubenville. Elmon loved his bird George and he enjoyed wood working. He will be remembered as a handyman who could do it all, including designing and building his own home.
His wife Anna Margaret Smith, whom he married November 5, 1955, died on May 23, 2015.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Todd) Crooks of Columbiana; two sons, Rodney (Kathy) Smith of Westminster, MD, and Kevin Smith of Columbiana; three granddaughters, Sarah, Emilee and Alyson Smith and two grandsons, Matthew Smith and Rhys Crooks.
Elmon was preceded in death by two sisters, Loita Blackburn and Bonnie Ewing and three brothers, William, Kenneth, and Everett Smith.
At the request of the family no services will be observed.
Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.
