Burdell Blackmore

GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Burdell L. “Bud” Blackmore, 88, formerly of Smiths Ferry, died at Genesis Healthcare Center in Glenville, W.Va., following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 10, 1929 in Midland, Pa., the son of the late Burdell and Elizabeth McCullough Blackmore.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked at Patterson Foundry, then worked as a motor inspector for the Crucible Steel Corp., for over 20 years, until his retirement. Later in his life, he worked for the U.S. State Department. He was the owner of Blackmore TV Repair.

He was a member of the Smiths Ferry Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Dorothy McKinley; and his second wife, Martha “Marty” Gregory.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Spencer of Craigsville, W.Va.; a son, Burdell “Lee” Blackmore II of Negley;a brother, Bill Blackmore; a sister, Bonnie Diddle; a stepdaughter, Robin Jenkins; a stepson, Scott Randa; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildsons.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Adkins officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
