East Palestine — Rose V. Benton, 89, of Alice St., and a lifelong resident of the community, passed away July 10, 2017 at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boardman, where she was a patient.
Rose was born August 8, 1927 in East Palestine, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Scarabino Bruno. She was a 1945 graduate of East Palestine High School and was active in many alumni activities. Rose was a life member of the Ex-POW Chapter 13, and was secretary/treasurer of the East Palestine Art Club for many years. Rose enjoyed oil painting and showing her art at various local art shows. Prior to Paul’s death, Rose and her beloved husband traveled to many places around the world.
Rose is survived by four nieces, Linda Budd, Lorrie Budd, Fran Lantz and Mary Kay Reese; nephew, Michael (Margie) Budd; three great nephews, Justin (Lizette) Beveridge, Jordan Reese, and Chris (Megan) Lantz; three great great nephews Andrew, Jackson, Braedon; a great great niece, Cameron and her little dog “Maddie”.
Her husband of 62 years, Paul “Diz” Benton in 2011, as well as two sisters, Tracey Snochowski and Annie Reese preceded her in death.
A private service will be held at the Burns Memorial Chapel in Glenview Cemetery.
