Harvey Newlan

WELLSVILLE — Harvey Lawrence Newlan, 89, of Wellsville died Monday at his home, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 30, 1927 in Beaver, Pa., the son of the late Harvey and Sarah (Tice) Newlan.

He served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict, and he retired from the U. S. Air Force.

He worked in the cold strip for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Pauline, Dora, Ima Jean, Shirley and Nancy; and three brothers, Bernard, Frank, and Charles.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Louise (Buck) Newlan; one son, Steve Newlan of Wellsville; one brother, Terry “Ted” Newlan of Wellsville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenneth Maylone officiating and military honors at 5:45 p.m. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
