Robert Shaffer

Lisbon — Robert A. “Bob” Shaffer, 81, of State Route 172, passed away unexpectedly at 6:05pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the emergency room at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shaffer was born on January 13, 1935 in Hanoverton, a son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Welling) Shaffer, and had lived in the area all of his life.

A Presbyterian by faith, Bob worked at TRW and later at Col-Pump, retiring in 2000. He also farmed for many years, helping his grandfather, his uncle, and many neighbors.

Bob also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during peacetime.

He was a member of the Antique Tractor Association and life member of the Negley Fish and Game Club.

Bob is survived and will be fondly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Darline (Udick) Shaffer, whom he married May 16, 1964; his son, Bryan Shaffer and his wife, Janet of Salem; sisters, Betty McCoy and her husband, Earl of New Waterford, Shirley Wickey and her husband, Tom of Columbiana and Mary Safreed of Salem; his brother, Jack Shaffer and his wife, Marlene of Rogers; and his grandson, Brady Shaffer of Enon Valley.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Shaffer.

Calling hours will be held from 1pm to 4pm, Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home. No funeral services will be observed.
