Harold Carr

NORTH BENTON — Harold W. Carr, 85, of North Benton, died Thursday after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1931 in Kusooth, WV to Fred and Estella (Frye) Carr.

He worked as a millwright for 39 years at Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products in Alliance and then as a supervisor at Control Services & Installation in Akron. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, and was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine (Hands) Carr; two sons Jeffrey of Cary, N.C., and Brian of Alliance; siblings, Beatrice Criss, Delorice Boyd, and Alton Carr; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Charles and Clifford, and a sister, Anne.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Damascus United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring and at the church on Friday a half-hour prior to the service. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
