Ardis Israel

Ardis J. Israel 77, of Damascus, died at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 13, 1938 in Salem, the daughter of the late Rex R. and Virginia M. (Karr) Israel.

She was a lifetime resident of the area and member of the Damascus Methodist Church for many years.. She was employed for 10 years in the Sterilization Department of Alliance Community Hospital in the 1960’s. Ardis was a 1958 graduate of the Goshen High School and went business college in Alliance for one year. A past member of the Eastern Star in Sebring, and had been a volunteer at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community. She enjoyed flower arranging and entered her work in area shows. She was an avid reader of all kinds of books, and loved to play bingo. She has been a resident of the Auburn Skilled Nursing facility on Valley Road where she enjoyed their activities and being a member of the Red Hats Society.

She is survived by her sister, Karen Israel Moore ( Karen Israel MD., FACP) and Brother-in-law Benton John Moore both in Indianapolis, In., nephew, Rex Benton Hartje Moore and his wife Megan of Noblesville, Ind., nieces, Virginia Israel Moore of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. And Magdelena Reber Moore of Chicago, Ill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece Ardena Marianna Moore.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, from 11 to 12 noon at the Damascus Methodist Church. The Rev Bob Amey will be in charge of the services starting at 12 Noon at the church. A Committal service and burial will follow in the Damascus Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, Ohio.

The family has requested that memorial contributions to be made to Damascus Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Ardis name, The Damascus Volunteer Fire Departments and EMS or the Eastern Star of Sebring, Ohio.
