Lisbon – Virginia D. Witherow, 87, of Steubenville Pike Rd., passed away suddenly at 12:56am, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Witherow was born June 18, 1927 in Wellsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Pressler) Davis, and had lived all of her life in the area.
A graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Virginia was a homemaker and had worked at Thompson Farms for many years.
She was a member of the Bethel United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and as a member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Square Wheels square dance group.
Her husband, Wilbur J. Witherow, whom she married October 21, 1948, preceded her in death March 11, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Josephine Cochran and Irene Stocks, and brother, John Paul Davis.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Janet S. (Gary) Stark of Salem; sons, James C. (Karen) Witherow of New Cumberland, WV, and Harold W. (Julie) Witherow of Salineville; grandchildren, Melinda (Jim) Gibson, Mark (Tina) Witherow, Mike (Ashley) Witherow, and Regina (Alex) Porter; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Ludwig officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel U.P. Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm, Thursday and from 10 am until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
