COLUMBIANA – Rosemary C. Hum, 84, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 7:30 a.m. at Hospice of the Valley in Poland.
Rosemary was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Salem, to the late Harry and Mary (McCoy) Hum.
She was a graduate of Lisbon High School, the Youngstown Hospital Association School of Medical Technology, and had worked for the hospitals in Youngstown and Dr.’s Firestone, Neidus, Zlotnick, and Rosenblum. She later graduated from Youngstown State University and had taught at Cardinal Mooney, St. Dominic’s and other schools for the Diocese of Youngstown. She also taught at Roosevelt for the Youngstown Public School System.
She is survived by as sister, Helen Whan of Columbiana; two nieces, Beth (Kevin) Biscella and Kay (Dave) Thompson; one nephew, Jeff (Beth) Whan, all of Leetonia; three great-nieces, Erin Pusateri, Elaina (Craig) Schmidt of Leetonia, and Jaime (Matt) Booth of New Waterford; four great-nephews, Mike Vignon and Dan (Rachel) Vignon of New Waterford, Jared Thompson of Leetonia, and Jordan Vignon with the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa, Japan; and four great-great-nephews, Nathan Pusateri and Cayden, Kyle and Caleb Booth.
She was Catholic by faith.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Youngstown at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014.
The family asks that memorial contributions in her memory be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44512 or Humane Society of Columbiana County, 1825 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem, OH 44460.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and Hospice of the Valley for their kind and loving care.
