He worked as a supervisor for the East Ohio Gas Company of Youngstown, Ohio for 40 years, following in the footsteps of his father, who had worked for the company as well. On June 18th, 1960 he married the love of his life, the former Rebecca Jane Reese whom he met while donating blood for the American Red Cross, where Rebecca was serving refreshments.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Rebecca Jane (Reese) McMurray and two grateful and loving sons, Robert Paul McMurray, II of Cleveland, Ohio and Rodney Keith McMurray, of Columbiana. Robert was a volunteer fireman for the city of Columbiana and was a member of the East Palestine Kiwanis Club as a representative for the East Ohio Gas Company.
Bob always made his family his first priority. He enjoyed attending all the activities that his sons and grandsons were involved in. We wish to thank all of the family members, health care nurses and the nurses of the Hospice of the Valley who have attended to our father over these past years. We want to especially thank his number one caregiver: the one who was always at his side through these physically difficult years, our Mother, affectionately referred to by our Dad as, “My Becky.” He will be greatly missed.
