North Lima – Margaret M. Snyder, 89 passed away in the evening of July18 at the Hospice House surrounded by loved ones and surrounded by the nature that she loved.
She was born May 9, 1925, in Campbell, OH, the daughter of Dave (Deszo) Balogh and Mary Vargo Balogh. She was married to her true love, Lincoln L. Snyder, on June 25, 1949 at the Hungarian Reformed Presbyterian Church, Youngstown, OH.
She graduated from Springfield Twp. High School in 1943 having attended Poland Seminary School from elementary school through ninth grade. She retained many deep friendships with classmates and their spouses from both schools.
At age 18 she began working for Dr. H.P. McGregor in North Lima. Many former patients across the 15 years she worked there remembered her caring. She worked as a salesperson at Sheely’s Furniture and Appliances for 20 years, retiring at age 75. Then traveling with Sara’s Children on a mission trip to the Ukraine.
She was a member and elder at Mount Olivet UCC where for many years she chaired the annual rummage sale which benefited many mission programs in the community. She was on the board and worked tirelessly at the weekly food distribution of the 3Cs Food Bank.
She and her husband believed that individuals should be active in their community to make the world a better place, a message she passed on to her family. She was honored to be Parade Marshal for the annual Beaver Township Memorial Day parade. She was a charter member of the Beaver Twp. Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary, served as Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the Beaver Twp Park Board and Historical Society. She served many years delivering for Meals on Wheels in the Youngstown/Struthers area. Margaret was in the Marion Chapter 278 of the Eastern Star. She loved to read and enjoyed her membership in the Searchlight Club.
She was able to see the world with her sisters and brother-in-law on trips to her heritage land of Hungary, Europe, Australia as well as bus trips in the USA with her dear friends.
She was a devoted mother to her own children and to others who called her “Mom.” She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-law, Debra (Ted) Suffolk of Canfield; two grandsons: Douglas Suffolk and fiancee, Ondra Hoffman, of Broomfield, Colo. and Marcus Suffolk of Canfield and a granddaughter, Allisce Snyder, of Canfield.
She also leaves her sisters, Ethel Lower, of North Lima and Louise Haydn, of Collins, OH; sisters and brother -in-law, Sarah Mullinex; Marilyn and Galen Snyder of New Middleown, her daughter-in-law, Renee Snyder, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her nieces and nephews, David and Joanne Lower of Boardman and Susan and Bob Bishop of St. Johnsbury, VT were especially loved for their care and support. Many neighbors and friends became precious loved ones.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln L. Snyder; her son, Lincoln Snyder; her parents, and in-laws, Joseph and Irene (Longanecker) Snyder; her closest brother-in-laws, William Lower and Theodore Haydn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet UCC, 410 West South Range Road, North Lima with the Rev. Melinda Quellhorst officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday July 21 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Margaret’s memory to the church.
