Linda Cormany

COLUMBUS – Pastor Linda S. Cormany, 63, of East Palestine, died Friday at the Crown Point Care Center here following a lengthy illness.

Born in Oakland, Calif., on March 5, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Walter Robert and Rachel Vivian Glover Nelson. She lived in Columbus many years until moving to this area 15 years ago.

For many years she worked in financing for J.D. Byrider but later joined the ministry where she had most recently been the chaplain at East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army where she served as a captain. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in East Palestine.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Yensel of Columbus and Ruth Welsh of Southeast Asia; a son, Jonathan Cormany of Columbus; four sisters, Wanda Laubscher and Alice Nelson of Florida, Joyce Schmidt of Missouri and Jo Anne Nelson of California; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Richard Ferris of the church will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Monroe Township Cemetery in Continental, Ohio.
