Leetonia – Glenn Arnold Sauerwein, age 79, of Leetonia, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Salem Regional Medical Center due to an extended illness.
He was born on July 23, 1934 in Greenford, a son of the late William and Christine Kentzel Sauerwein.
Glenn grew up on the family farm where he worked until becoming a truck driver for 43 years retiring from Jones Motor Freight in 1996. He was a devoted NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He also enjoyed spending his Sunday mornings with the other members of the “7 & 14 Breakfast Crew”.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jacqueline “Jacquie” Barrett Sauerwein, whom he married on June 27, 1981; four daughters, Bobbie Koran of Columbiana, Connie (John) Campagna of East Palestine, Annette (Bob) Walter of Salem, and Brenda Lower of Canfield; a son, Donnie Sauerwein of Columbiana; a step son, Michael Jones of Macedonia; a step daughter, Marla (Thom) Adams of Tampa, FL.; three brothers, Bill (Nancy) Sauerwein of North Lima, Arden (Jean) Sauerwein of Salem and Pete (Diane) Sauerwein of Salem; a sister, Wilma (Harry) Arkwright of Lisbon. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) and Hannah Koran, Christie and Corey Lower, Clay, Olivia and Violet Adams, Chad Campagna and Brandy (Tarique) Robinson and by two great grandsons, Kaleb and Jeremiah Robinson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
