Rogers – David W. Baker, 50, of Bye Road, passed away at 10:31 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Boardman Campus, after becoming ill at home.
Dave was born December 14, 1963 in Salem, a son of Shirley Crawford Baker, and the late Earl Baker.
He had been involved in construction for number of years, having owned and operated Baker Paving, as well as being co-owner of Good Spirits.
He was a graduate of East Palestine High School, and was a big Bulldog fan, and also avidly rooted for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Tony Stewart with NASCAR.
In addition to his mother at home, he leaves his companion, Cindy Parker; three step daughters, Missy (Mike) Smith and Liz (Zach) Sherry both of East Palestine, Sarah (Mark) Jump of Columbus, and a step son, Matt Parker, Charlotte, NC.
Dave also leaves a brother, Larry Baker of Unity; two sisters, Cindy Handwork, Unity, and Sharri Kintz, East Palestine; and six grandchildren, Drae, Jesse, Sidney, Parker, Payton, and Maddie, as well as two nieces and a nephew, Anna, Michelle, and Shawn, and of course his dog, Smoke.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31st, at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Rev. Mark McTrustry of the Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
