Virginia Smith

Rogers – Virginia R. “Ginny” Smith, 89, of 46010 Walnut Street, died at 2:03 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her home.

Ginny was born February 19, 1925 in Salem, a daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Louise Everhart Fiets and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Rogers Sale for many years.

Her husband, James O. Smith, Sr., whom she married January 16, 1943 died July 25, 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary J. (Louis) McPherson and Edna L. (Ronald) Stanley, both of Rogers; five sons, Wayne (Paula) Smith, Warren D. (Debbie) Smith, and Gerald E. (Shannon) Smith, all of Rogers; Roy J. Smith of Selma, NC and Larry A. (Carol) Smith of Sharon, PA; a sister, Lorretta Gary of Naples, FL; 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Lee Smith, Richard Lee Smith, and James O. Smith, Jr.; a grandson, two great grandchildren, three brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor David Rose officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
