New Waterford – Jack W. Meier, Sr., 79 of N. State Street, passed away at 5:37 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Jack was born March 11, 1935 in Edinburg, IN, a son of the late Joseph E. and Jean Egan Meier, and had resided in the New Waterford area for the past twenty-seven years, coming from New York. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having retired in 1976 as a MSGT/E7 after serving for twenty-two years. Following his retirement from the military he had been employed with Plaza Lumber, and later Busy Beaver, as well as serving as clerk for the Village of New Waterford.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, the former Theresa Struble whom he married Sept. 30, 1989. He also leaves three sons, Michael (Lori) Paskevitch and J.J. (Natasha) Meier, both of New Waterford, and Darren Meier, Iowa; and three daughters, Jacqueline Egan, Florida, Lisa Paskevitch, New Waterford, and Courtney (Curt) Douglas, Massillon. Jack also leaves seven grandchildren, Max and Kaden Paskevitch, Riley and Chase Douglas, Braydon and Brayleigh Meier, and McKenzie Paskevitch, as well as his dog, Penny.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20th at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with John Hersh of Ozer Ministries, officiating. Burial will follow in New Waterford Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the American Legion Post 31 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4579. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:0 p.m. Thursday.
