Cora Corak

WELLSVILLE – Cora A. (Soldano) Corak, 87, of Wellsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Trinity Medical Center West with her family by her side.

She was born October 12, 1926, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late John J. and Anna (Comparetto) Soldano.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Peter L. Corak, whom she married November 14, 1953. Two brothers also preceded her: Joseph J. Soldano and John A. Soldano.

Cora graduated from Wellsville High School in 1945. She attended Ohio Valley Business College. She was employed by Patterson Foundry and then by Immaculate Conception Church as a faithful secretary for forty-six years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and House of Prayer in East Liverpool. Cora enjoyed the Triple Nine Card Club for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, SOI Lodge #657, and a social member of the VFW Post 5647.

Survivors include three daughters: Mary Ann Burcham (Dave), Lisa Smith (Rick), and Cristi Jo Corak, all of Wellsville; and one son: David Corak (Rebecca) of Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Chad Corak (Nancy), Jessica Smith Geer (Scot), Aaron Smith (Brittany), Jared Smith, who resided with her, and Lauren Smith; four great-grandchildren: Amy Willis (Stacy), Sadie Geer Baldwin (Daniel), Gryphin Geer, and Evan Geer; and one great-great-granddaughter: Eva Baldwin. She is survived by two sisters: Theresa and Joan Soldano of Wellsville.

Cora enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, and she never knew a stranger.

A celebration funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Lou Hull officiating.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
