COLUMBIANA Sherri M. Halas, 59, of Columbiana, entered her heavenly home early Wednesday morning, May 28 surrounded by family and loved ones after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Sherri was born on August 15, 1954 in Youngstown, a daughter of Charles ‘Barney’ and Lillian (Coonce) Henry. A 1972 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Sherri also attended Penn-Ohio Business College. She was employed by NP Billing Services as a medical biller for many years, and would continue in that field at additional billing companies as well. She was of the Nazarene faith.
Sherri loved to go to the lake and camping with family and friends. She devoted much of her time to providing foster care to area children, and volunteered countless hours at Northeast Ohio Adoption Agency and the Mahoning County Children’s Services.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory three sons, Dave Halas, Dan Halas and his wife Tracey, and Mardell Halas, all of Columbiana; Anne Halas of New Waterford; five grandchildren, Hope, Mara, Ava, Danica, and Dane Halas; and a sister, Bonnie Kyle and her husband Richard of New Waterford.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Barney Henry; and an infant brother Charles F. Henry, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31 at noon at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Pastor Pamela Price officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday May 31 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, two hours prior to the service.
The family requests that if friends desire, material contributions may be made to Dan and Tracey Halas, who have set up an account in Sherri’s name, to help with final expenses. The address is Dan and Tracey Halas, 14240 Country View Circle, Columbiana, OH 44408.
