NEW WATERFORD – Karen Sue Garver of New Waterford, Ohio, began her new journey at 6:15 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, Ohio, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. She was 60.
Karen was born on January 10, 1954, a daughter to William and Marie Elizabeth (Kovach) Daniels in Salem, Ohio.
A 1972 graduate of East Palestine High School, she went on to further her education at Kent State University, where she graduated in 1978 with an associate degree in nursing. She was proud to be a nurse having worked at Salem Hospital, Southside Hospital, as well as home healthcare too throughout her 25 year career.
She attended Abundant Life & Highway Tabernacle Church and had a strong belief in her Lord.
Karen began the “Volkswagen Craze” that still exists in her family to this very day. In her spare time, she was the former treasurer for the Brown’s Backers, Salem, and she enjoyed needlepoint & crocheting.
Survivors include: her children, Jason M. Garver & his wife Barbara, W. Pittsburg, PA, Matthew P. Garver & his wife Ashley, New Waterford, OH, and Amy J. Virden & her husband James, Wellsville, OH; her 3 grandsons: Jonathan Virden, Matthew P. Garver, Jr., & Joshua A. Garver; and her special granddaughter, Grace Gorby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sisters, Lisa Marie Caldwell & Paula K. Daniels; and by her half-sister, Andrea Daniels.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Karen will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014, at 5:30 PM, at the Newell First Church of the Nazarene, Corner of Third & Grant Streets, Newell, WV 26050. A time of gathering will be observed from 3-5 PM prior to the service also at the church.
As an expression of sympathy, her family requests that material contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44515 in her memory.
