SALEM – I, Denise L. Burton, 51, was born in 1962 in Lisbon, daughter of Charles Bruce Burton and Carol Jean Dotson Burton and peacefully passed away May 9th, 2014 at the home of my sister and brother-in-law, Tamie and Rick Milhoan.
All my life I have been a lover of classic rock music, Nickleback and Melissa Ethridge. My favorite songs growing up were Freebird and Stairway to Heaven.
I am survived by my sisters, Tamie Milhoan, Melissa Rankin, and Connie Dattillo Burton, and my brothers Richie, Brad and Josh Burton, proceeded before me my parents and by brother Ricky Burton.
I leave behind my life long friend Lynn Holshue and my faithful companion, Romeo, my cockateel.
Years ago I won first prize at the Johnny Appleseed Festival for my artwork which is my proudest moment of my life.
I leave behind my pride and joy, all my nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
My funeral arrangements have been made by Greenisen, Salem. A celebration of my life will be held at a later date. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Lisbon Cemetery Chapel.

SALEM – Denise Leora Burton 51, formerly of Salem, died at 10:45 AM Friday at her residence in Lisbon.
She was born on October 25, 1962 in Salem, the daughter of the late C. Bruce and Carol Jean (Dotson) Burton.
She had lived in Salem until a month ago when she moved to Lisbon. She was employed at various places in the area. She served as a cook and bar tender at the Ivy Stone and Night Court in Lisbon as well as the Steel Trolley. A press operator at Envelope One and a dock worker at the Morning Journal.
She is survived by her siblings, Tamie (Richard) Burton-Milhoan with whom she made her home in Lisbon, Connie Burton-Dattilio of Columbiana, Richie Lee (Greta) Burton of Lisbon, Melissa Jean (John) Burton-Rankin of Lisbon, Brad Allen (Jennifer) Burton of Summitville, and Joshua James (Jill) Burton of New Waterford, Step Mother Mary Ann (Belaney) Burton of Salineville, sister-in-law Sherri Burton of Salineville, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Ricky Bruce Burton.
A Celebration of Life Service is being planned, and will be announced in the near future. The burial will be in the Lisbon City Cemetery.
