Salineville – Lois Newhouse Leishman, 97, of Salineville Road died Tuesday evening at the Sterling House in Salem, Ohio.
Lois was born September 5, 1916, a daughter of the late Ernest and Molly Bray Newhouse.
Lois lived all her lived in the Salineville area, graduated from Salineville High School, and married Kenneth Leishman September, 10, 1935. She was a member of the Salineville Church of Christ, where she was the Sunday School Superior. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and made many, many quilts. Lois was a devoted homemaker and loved spending time with her family.
Lois will be missed by her daughter, Janet Burns of Columbiana, Ohio; her son, William (BJ) Leishman of Gambier, Ohio; grandchildren, Katey Hamel of Arizona, Melody (Bruce) Craft of Columbiana, Douglas (Cathy) Hart of Minerva, Rod (Kitty) Hart of Guilford Lake, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Arsuffi of North Lima, Brad (Peggy) Hart of North Ridgeville, Robert (April) Burns of Myrtle Beach, Tary (Liz) Combs of Mt Vernon, and Karla (Rick) Musick of Mt. Vernon; eighteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Leishman on December 20, 1982, two brothers, Albert Newhouse, Jack Newhouse, and one sister, Ruth Kerr.
A service will be held Friday April, 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, Ohio, with Fred O. May officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM.
