COLUMBIANA – Jess Raymond Gaskill, 89, of Columbiana, passed away at Saint Elizabeth Boardman Health Center Thursday afternoon, April 3.
Mr. Gaskill was born on June 14, 1924 in Columbiana, a son of Carl and Jamima (Lyons) Gaskill. He served his country during WWII by joining the Army, and earned a Purple Heart while stationed in Germany.
Jess married the former Janet Hurlburt August 11, 1972 and owned and operated his own company, Gaskill Construction, until he was in his 70s.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Janet; his children: Judy and her husband John, Raymond and his wife Robin, Russ and his wife Debbie, Wade, and Jock; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister Ailene of Pataskala, OH.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 5 at 1 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana.
Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 290 of Columbiana at Columbiana Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday April 5 from noon-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jess’ memory to the charity of the donors’ choice.
