Lisbon – Donna Mae Vulcan, 82, formerly of St. Rt. 45, passed away at 10pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Vista Center, where she had recently been residing.
Donna was born October 1, 1931 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Hershel and Freda (Custer) Chamberlain, and had resided in the Lisbon area most of her life, having lived for several years in Maybelle, Colorado and Vernal, Utah.
Donna worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Salem Community Hospital. She was an avid reader and enjoyed meeting people. Donna also enjoyed gardening and journaling.
Donna is survived and will be dearly missed by her four children; David (Sharon) Cope, Diana Pickens, and Dale (Kenneth) McCulley, all of Lisbon, and Michael (Paula) Cope of Damascus, and her three step-children; Ronald (June) Vulcan of North Benton, Dale Vulcan of Elkton, Maryland, and Bernice (Gerald) Smith of Wellsville.
Ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren survive and miss their “Gram” as well.
In addition, Donna leaves behind two dear sisters, Esther Chamberlain of Lisbon and Ruth Schnarrenberger of Columbiana.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Audrey Snively and Elouise Miller, three step-children, Diane Mercer, Gale Vulcan, and Marcia Dickey, and an infant grandson.
Donna was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Vulcan, whom she married April 26, 1959, and who died July 10, 1997.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Mark R. Wilds officiating. Private burial will take place at East Carmel Cemetery.
