SALEM – Betty A. Hoopes, age 85, of Salem, Ohio died Monday evening, April 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born February 5, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late Clyde and Edith (Kreps) Crew.
Betty worked for Automatic Venders for 16 years and attended the Southeast Friends Church in Salem.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Sines of Salem and Barbara Bowman of Salem; two stepsons, Ted Hoopes and Terry Hoopes both of Salem; a granddaughter, Becki (Arthur Jr.) Fowler of Irondale, Ohio; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her first husband, Lester Bowman in 1972 whom she married in 1953; second husband, Kenneth Hoopes, whom she married in April of 1984, preceded her in April 2001; a sister, Irene Moore; a brother, Clyde Crew; and a granddaughter, Traci Shoulders.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Donald Herr officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem at a later date.
