LISBON – Gerald Brent Woofter, 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Vista Center.
Born November 18, 1926 in Weston, WV, he was a son of the late Brooks and Martha (Haney) Woofter.
He was retired from Hynes Steel Roll Form Division.
Mr. Woofter was a World War II Army veteran and loved gardening, being outdoors, and his walks in the woods.
Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, including his children, Faye (Gene) Newcomb of Warren, Paul (Gloria) Woofter of Hawaii, and Laura (John Piscor) Shamp of Columbiana; brothers, Carl Woofter of Weston, WV, and Charles (Sarah) Woofter of Collinsville, OK; five grandchildren: Matthew Beers, Keith (Lana) Beers, Staci (Tim) Brady, Eliot Woofter, and Cody Shamp; as well as three great-grandchildren: Lexi, Ali, and Shyana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Della Penna) Woofter, in 2007. Also deceased are a son, Glenn Woofter, and a son-in-law, Steve Shamp.
There will be a private service with military honors Friday at the Weber Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be in Welsh Hill Cemetery in Weathersfield Township, Trumbull County.
