Delilah Smith

Calcutta-Delilah Carol Smith, 71, formerly of Lisbon, passed away at 11:50pm, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Calcutta Health Care Center, where she had resided the past 4 years.

Mrs. Smith was born December 29, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Louise N. (Wollam) Nicholson, and had lived most of her life in the Calcutta and Lisbon areas.

Carol worked in the potteries and also as a cook at the former Blue Top Restaurant. She loved to spend time with her family and she enjoyed reading. She was also the vice president of the resident council at the Calcutta Health Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Smith, whom she married December 29, 1977, on March 21, 1992.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Juanita Patterson of Wellsville; Jodie Lynn Smith Collins of East Liverpool, Amy Sue Smith Detweiler of West Point, Ohio, Elizabeth N. Talbott and Tanya R. Little, both of East Liverpool; sons, Forrest Lee Nicholson of East Liverpool, David A. Smith of Florissant, Colorado, Walter L. Smith, Jr. of Hammondsville, Ohio, and Curtis Duwayne Smith of Calcutta; several grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A committal service with burial to follow will be held at 2pm, Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Columbiana County Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Paul Trease officiating. The family will receive friends in the Chapel from 1pm until the time of services Monday at the cemetery.
