Sandra Hubbard

EAST LIVERPOOL The gates of Heaven were open wide and Sandra (Sandy) Sue Hubbard, 72, of East Liverpool was welcomed to be with her Lord Jesus Christ late Wednesday evening.

Sandy passed away at 10:30 p.m. at Allegheny General Hospital, where she had been a patient in the MICU for the past few weeks after becoming ill. She was surrounded at her bedside by her loving family and her soulmate as they watched her being ushered into eternal rest.

Born in Salem on January 7, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Sid and Mary Lou Raymond Cowan. A proud 1960 graduate of Beaver Local High School, she attended the Northside Community Church.

Sandy was the widow of the late Thomas Hubbard who passed away in 2003. She loved caring for her home and family. An avid bowler, she belonged to teams at Tri-State Lanes and Walnut Lanes. She actively supported and participated in the “Bowl for Kids’ Sake” event every year to benefit kids in area communities. Her bowling shoes will be impossible to fill. She was also part of her “Card Club” at Adrians Restaurant.

She was an active and proud member of the American Legion Post 121 Auxiliary and the VFW Post 6450 Ladies Auxiliary. At one time, Sandy had owned and operated her own establishment, the SOB, and had formed many long-lasting friendships which continued throughout her life. But her biggest achievement was her family, of which she was most proud.

Surviving are her two precious sons: Charles “Chuck” Click, Jr., and his wife, Paula, and Timothy R. Click, all of East Liverpool. She also leaves behind two granddaughters whom she adored: Ashley Click of East Liverpool, and Tiffany Thayer and her husband, Charlie, also of East Liverpool. Charlie and Sandy shared a special bond of celebrating their birthdays together every year. Two cherished grandsons, Kevin Click and his wife, Ashlee, of East Liverpool, and Keith Click and his wife, Jennifer, of Morgantown, also survive.

Sandy also leaves behind her treasured brother and sister and their families: Sid Cowan Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of East Palestine, whom she loved so very much and shared so many special times. Sandy had a very close bond with her sister, Julie Borelli and her husband, Steve, of Leetonia a bond they shared together which will be imprinted on their hearts forever; Sandy treasured the wonderful times they spent with each other. Sandy was also the proud aunt of Sid Cowan III and his wife, Starr, and their children, Hayden, Ashton and Logan of San Antonio, TX; as well as niece Holly Lewis and her husband, Chad, of East Palestine and their children, Jordan and Braxton; and niece Angie Kauth and her husband, Jeff, of New Middletown.

Also surviving is Sandy’s very special soulmate who never left her side, Douglas Denver Greathouse of Moon Twp, PA, who loved her as much as she loved him.

She was a wonderful mother grandmother sister wife friend. She will be greatly missed on earth, but we will see her in Heaven!

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Pastor Larry Rose of Northside Church and Sandy’s uncle, Pastor Lou Raymond, will officiate at the service to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Sandy will be laid to rest at East Carmel Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.

The family asks that those wishing to make memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may send them c/o Northside Community Church, 702 Orchard Grove, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
