East Palestine – Danny F. Boggs, 66, of East Main Street, formerly of New Springfield, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Salem Regional Medical Center, after becoming ill at home.
Danny was born August 15, 1947 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Lloyd and Mildred F. Moore Boggs, and had resided in the East Palestine area since 2005. A graduate of Kent State University, he had received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education, and had been employed as a teacher with the Beaver Local School District, retiring in 2000. Following his retirement from teaching, he had been employed with the local hardware stores, and later as a leader for Weight Watchers.
He was a member of the Long’s Run United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder, and was involved with the church cemetery committee. He was currently serving as president of the East Palestine Historical Society, as well as being on the Board of Housing Appeals and the Community Reinvestment Area Housing for the village of East Palestine.
Dan is survived by his wife, the former Rebecca Hall, whom he married April 14, 1973; two sons, James (Amber Barr) Boggs, New Springfield, and Patrick (Kathy) Boggs, Negley; a daughter, Mary (Richard) Crowley, Mt. Lebanon, PA; and five grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Brent (Kay) Boggs, Calcutta, and a sister, Brenda Davis, Columbus.
The family will receive friend at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the memorial service at 12 Noon, February 1st, at the Longs Run Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Stephen Cramer.
