Walter E. Dyke of Negley, Ohio made his journey home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, joining his father Richard E. Dyke, and a granddaughter Ashley Jean Dyke in God’s arms.
He graced this earth with 74 years, leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife Bonnie (Zalick) whom he married March 2, 1963. His three children Rick (Kathy) Dyke of Negley, Amanda (Joseph) Reed of Monaca, PA and Jennifer (Jason) Mackall of New Waterford, OH, along with 3 grandchildren Kayla Dyke, and Hunter and McKennah Mackall, and his mother Carolyn Louise Dyke.
Walt retired in 1997 from Murray trucking where he had been employed as a supervisor, having spent the bulk of his employment as a diesel mechanic, as well as having served time in the U.S. Army.
A Christian by faith, Walt was an avid fisherman, spending much of his time making fishing lures, tinkering around his garage and taking pride in his garden along with feeding the various wildlife surrounding his home.
Walt spent all of his life dedicated to his wife and family, the lights of his life, ensuring their health and happiness came before his. His doting wife was ever by his side, holding his hand as he passed, her presence a great comfort to him as well as to their family.
Walt took a little bit of his family with him to heaven but in doing such he granted us the space in our hearts to always hold his cherished memories close.
A memorial service celebrating Walt will be held at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21st with Robert Taucher officiating. Friends will be received prior to the service from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The family has asked that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Negley Volunteer Fire Dept, Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashely Circle Ste E, Austintown, Oh 44515, or the charity of one’s choice.
