COLUMBIANA – Verna Callahan Echard, 82, of Columbiana, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Boardman, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. She had been a resident of Covington Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine for the last two months.
Mrs. Echard was born on March 17, 1931, in Alliance, Ohio, a daughter of the late John W. Callahan and the late Mabel Clay Callahan.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana.
She was survived by two daughters, Karen Boyle of E. Palestine and Mrs. Joseph (Kathy) Remish Sr. of Columbiana; a sister, Lillie Echard of Orlando, Florida; six grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond E. Echard, who died June 24, 1993; by her companion of 11 years, John C. Manning, who died September 12, 2013; by one brother, four sisters, a son-in-law and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Emmanuel Methodist Church in E. Palestine with the Rev. Mark McTrustry officiating. Friends and family are welcome.
