East Palestine – Richard P. Torrence went home to be with the Lord, having passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was a loving husband, and a loving father and grandfather.
Rich was born May 20, 1931 in East Palestine, a son of the David and Rosina Olivetti Torrence.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4579. He enjoyed golfing, fishing,and hunting, and for many years he raised roosters.
He is survived by his wife, the former Norma Jean Norton, whom he married October 24, 1952; two daughters, Toni (Carl) Miller, Negley, and Terri (Terry) Wendell, East Palestine. Rich also leaves six grandchildren, Charlsi Lehman, Leslie Lanning, Amber Decenso, Tony Wendell, Kelli Wendell, and Sara Wendell; and nine great grandchildren; and four brothers, Albert, Henry, Edward, and David.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Jim, Emery, August, Alfred, and Denny , as well a three sisters, Rose, Betty, and Edith.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for all their support and care. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
