Helen Yanni, 87 of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Calcutta Health Care following a lengthy illness. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio January 1, 1926, a daughter to the late Phillip & Anna (Bilas) Chan.
She was a 1944 graduate of East Liverpool High School and worked at Hall China for 17 years before she retired. She was a member of the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Her husband, Ray Yanni whom she married on March 25, 1946, survives her along with two sons; Craig S. Yanni of East Liverpool and Dennis R. Yanni and his wife Jani of Tiffin, OH, a daughter; Phyllis Ann Kidwell and her husband Doug of Sand Springs, OK, three brothers; Frank Chan of Beaver Falls, PA, Mike Chan & Phillip Chan both of East Liverpool, OH, Five grandchildren; Steve, Heidi, Leah, Matthew and Carly, three great grandchildren; Macie, Dani and Aydin, two sisters-in-law; Joann Prince and Rose Allen and her husband Roy both of East Liverpool, OH and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, two brothers John and Joe Chan and two sisters; Mary Cellini and Ann (Annie) Means precede her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Parish Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10 AM with Father Peter Haladej of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
