Columbiana – Helen E. Snyder, 89, of Columbiana, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Assumption Village, North Lima.
Mrs. Snyder was born April 2, 1924 in Curwensville, PA, a daughter of the late Herbert S. and Sadonia Zehner Spencer and had lived in this area most of her life.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a riveter on airplane wings during WWII. She was a member of the New Springfield Church of God, and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and sewing. She liked reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and also spending time with her family.
Her husband, William George Snyder, whom she married August 15, 1945 is deceased.
She is survived by two sons, William E. (Ruthe) Snyder of Columbiana and David L. (Terry) Snyder of Hilliard; four sisters, Ruth Harmon of San Diego, CA, Betty Kellner of Columbiana, Donna Mercer of Salem and Laura Clark of Canfield; two brothers, Al Spencer of Burgoon, OH and Art Spencer of Trumbull, CT; two grandchildren, William R. (Lisa) Snyder and their children, Abby, Eliana, and William T. Snyder and Amy D. (Richard) Russell and their children, Ella, Philip, and Will David Russell, all of Salem.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the New Springfield Church of God. Funeral arrangements are being made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home. Memorial tributes may be made to either the church or Hospice of the Valley.
