SALEM Erma Darlene Kyser, 83, formerly of Columbiana, passed away early Friday morning, December 20 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngs-town.
Mrs. Kyser was born on November 7, 1930 in Columbiana, a daughter of Hurlin and Myrtle (Bartholomew) Burkey. She was a life-long area resident.
Erma graduated from East Fairfield High School. She married Earl E. Kyser on June 17, 1948.
She graduated Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing and worked as an LPN at Salem Community Hospital for 15 years until she retired in 1988. She enjoyed being a member of the Columbiana Historical Society. Erma was a member of First Christian Church, and belonged to the Mary-Martha Circle and the Christian Home Builders.
Erma leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Darlene (Timothy) Everly of Hubbard and JoAnn (Robert) Wiggs of Kenly, NC; two sons, Keith A. Kyser of Selma, NC and Larry (Susan) Kyser of Columbiana; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a brother Walter Burkey of Columbiana.
Mrs. Kyser was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl who passed away March 27, 2004, sisters Margaret Klepfer and Esther Fisher, and brother Robert Burkey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St., Columbiana with Mr. Clarence Mansfield and Mr. John Reed officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery
